Nothing new or exciting to report.  The girls have been helping me with laundry today.  They helped sort colours and then fold some towels and then put all their own clothes away.  Of course I'm pretty particular about how and where they go in the drawers that when they are outside playing I will go in and straighten them up!  But they don't need to know that right now.  As they get older I'll expect more from them.

We have recently began giving the girls pocket money.  They each have their own monthly calendar and earn stickers for doing chores and helping out around the house or doing nice things for their sisters.  Then at the end of the month we cash out their stickers.  10 cents per age per day they received stickers.  Half must go in their piggy bank which is used for savings / buying others gifts... something other than for themselves... and the other half can go in their purse to spend.... Obviously due to their ages the money never makes it to the purse, they spend it the same day at our weekly trip to Wal Mart.  If they whine about doing chores they don't get a sticker but still have to do the chore.  It seems to be working so far.  Even Katera gets involved and wants stickers.

That's a great system!  The boys LOVE to help me with housework, but mostly they just get in the way - LOL!  I let them help with laundry, they can sort colors as well, and they like to throw it up in the washer.  They are also in charge of picking up their dirty laundry and making sure it gets put in the basket (I don't know how, mut they manage to pull out dirty clothes and leave them in their floor daily! LOL), picking up the playroom and putting their toys away and they are also in charge of keeping the "shoe shelf" near the front door neat.  We don't pay them for their chores right now, but we do give them pocket change to put in their banks occasionally.   May consider money as a motivation to get the chores done - LOL!

My girls also like to help with things around the house.  We need to start giving Emma an allowance of some sort.  Just need to follow through and do it.  Since we are friends, I have a suggestion, have you thought about having the girls also set aside part of their money to give back to God?  What our intentions are when we do start an allowance for Emma is to set up 3 bowls so she can see the money.  When we give her the money, 10% will go to God (that's first), then so much to savings and so much to spend.  If we start teaching them young about giving back to God, then maybe it will be easier when they are our age.  Even if you don't go to church each week, you could have them donate it or something.

And a PS to Mel, for  my daughter, money does not work as a motivation to get things done, which is why we are behind at doing it. :)
